UltraSuperNew presents Mike Wrobel for his first solo exhibition, a French artist illustrator based in Tokyo since 2009. Mike’s work is rooted in pop culture, taking over references and revisiting classic and iconic movies, TV shows, video games… that left a mark on many of us.

Growing up in the 80s and 90s, with tons of Pop Culture references like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Simpsons, X-Files, the Super Nes, Nirvana, etc… had a strong influence on his artistic direction.

Mike’s graphic style also takes its inspiration from the Vector Art in its technical process and sharpness. Whereas Vector Art can often look cold and minimalistic, he manages to instil identity and charisma through an impressive amount of details and a unique color palette.

Artist Profile

Mike came to fame in 2012 with a series of illustrations based on the famous American TV show Game of Thrones, in which he transposed the characters of the show from a dark fantasy/middle age world to a quirky 80s and 90s era.

Mostly working his own Art, the French artist sometimes accepts commissions. His client list includes HBO, Disney, ESPN, Thought Catalog…
