Kult Studio & Gallery and UltraSuperNew Gallery present Superheroes vs. Supervillains. A “friendly”, double-exhibition between two (arguably) similar entities with literally no reason to collaborate, except to size each other up.

Two galleries. Two agencies. One shared goal: to keep street art alive and well in this country. We strive for the same things — from the coolest exhibitions, to the baddest advertising campaigns, all while having enough to feed ourselves and our passions. You know what they say, keep your friends close, and your frenemies closer. It’s a tale as old as time, one reminiscent of our childish need to compete, fuelled by a mix of jealousy and disdain.

With a similar rolodex of artists, the competition began early on. Which artists can you get onboard, and on your side? The brief on the other hand, was simple and stemmed from a simple narrative-building exercise aimed to stimulate childlike creativity. If you were to create a superhero or supervillain, what would their names be? What powers would they have? How did they get these powers? Artists are given the freedom of medium — from digital illustrations, paintings, sculptures, figurines and even NFTs. We recommend visiting both galleries in succession. Which first? Well, that’s up to you.
